The Hampshire-based wind quintet, Quintessentially Wind, was founded in 1988 and still includes two of the founding members. The total number of players from whom the quintet has been formed exceeds 14 but all of these have performed with the quintet several times.
Quintessentially Wind has performed in most of the counties across the South of England, from Greater London to Cornwall, in a wide variety of venues both indoors and outside.
Performances have included complete concerts, often for charities, weddings, funerals, shared concerts with choirs and other instrumental groups, and background music for birthday parties and garden parties.
Quintessentially Wind comprises mainly principal players with Fleet Concert Orchestra, which is organised by Quintessentially Wind’s regular players and performs the chamber orchestra repertoire as well as accompanying choirs and shows.
The quintet is much in demand for chamber and charity concerts, weddings, garden parties, various fund-raising events and other functions. A recent charity concert at Farnham Castle helped raise nearly £2500 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
